When choosing a suitable high-lift truck, the first step is to determine the load capacity of the device. To do this, the weight of the heaviest pallets must be known. The load capacity should always be higher than the load, as vibrations occur during transport and lifting and the load on the device then increases. For example, if the load weighs 1200kg, the device should be rated for 1400kg or 1600kg.
Another important aspect is knowing how high the pallets should be stored. This is also crucial for the choice of lifting frame. Of course, it is also important to pay attention to the overall height if, for example, when moving the loads. B. low gate entrances have to be driven through. 

The next thing to pay attention to is whether there are bumps, small inclines or gate thresholds in the area in which you are working with your pedestrian stacker. Pedestrian forklifts have very low ground clearance, which can cause the device to bottom out. An initial or wheel arm lift can help here, raising the clamps under the forks and thus increasing the ground clearance.

Furthermore there is Double-deck stacker truck, with which it is possible to transport 2 pallets at once. These devices are generally equipped with a wheel arm lift, which can then be used to pick up the second pallet under the pallet that has already been raised. Double-deck high-lift trucks are mainly used for loading trucks over a ramp. These devices are usually equipped with a low mast and have lifting heights of up to 2 m. There are of course exceptions here too.

Another aspect when selecting the right high-lift truck is the space required. Due to its design, the space required by a pedestrian forklift is lower than that of reach mast forklifts or front forklifts. The width of the work aisle primarily plays a role in the space required. The aisle width is the distance in the rack aisle between the pallets. Depending on the type or manufacturer, pedestrian stackers can be used with aisle widths of 2,4 m. The working aisle width is specified accordingly by the manufacturer of the equipment.
